Satisfactory Codexery

Boar

A bristled, tusked charge of pure grassland fury that reminds you the factory is NOT the top of the food chain.

The Boar is one of the most recognizable and frequently encountered creatures in the Satisfactory world. A large, tusked quadruped with a thick, bristled hide, it roams the open grasslands and serves as a staple early-game resource for the Factory's hungry engineer. Despite its relatively modest size compared to some of the world's more exotic fauna, the Boar is no pushover: it is fast, stubborn, and will charge headlong into anything it perceives as a threat—which, in practice, means the player.

In the broader ecosystem of Satisfactory's wildlife, the Boar occupies a middle ground: more dangerous than a passive Deer but far less lethal than the larger predators or the FICSIT-touched horrors lurking in deeper biomes. For many players, the first time a Boar barrels across a meadow and shoves them into a dirt embankment is a rite of passage that cements the game's central joke: you are building a factory, and the local wildlife is not thrilled about it.

Lore & Background

In the scattered lore of Satisfactory's world, the Boar is simply part of the native fauna that has thrived in the planet's temperate grassland zones. It is not FICSIT-corrupted, not mutated by alien technology, and not part of any grand narrative arc. It is, in the most literal sense, a boar. And yet, in the context of a game where the player is assembling multi-kilometer conveyor networks and smelting millions of units of iron, the Boar takes on a quietly heroic role: it is the first creature that says "no" to your expansion.

Fans have built a small mythology around the Boar's temperament. Where the Deer simply flees and the Lizard lurks with unsettling patience, the Boar charges. It does not circle, does not wait. It picks a direction, lowers its head, and commits. This has made it a beloved early-game antagonist in the community—a creature that is dangerous enough to be memorable but harmless enough that a single well-placed shot (or a well-timed dodge) resolves the encounter. Many players recall their first Boar encounter as a moment of genuine surprise, the rumble of its hooves on packed dirt and the sudden lunge catching them off guard while they were busy placing a Foundation.

The Boar also serves a practical narrative function: it is the primary source of Raw Meat in the early game. Before the player has access to more complex food chains or the later-game cooking options, a few Boars in the Grasslands provide the protein needed to keep the engineer's hunger bar in check. In this way, the Boar is simultaneously the game's first "enemy" and its first "cow," a duality that fans find endearing.

In Their Own Story

The sun was low over the Grasslands, painting the tall grass in bands of amber and rust. You had just finished placing the last Concrete pillar for what you were hoping would be a tidy little water treatment setup, and you were crouched, checking the pipe routing, when you heard it. Not a growl, exactly. A *thump-thump-thump* of hooves on hard-packed earth, close and accelerating.

You turned. The Boar was maybe thirty meters out, head low, tusks catching the last of the light like two pale daggers. It wasn't running yet. It was *deciding*. You had maybe two seconds. You took them. You sidestepped left, and the Boar committed to the line it had chosen, barreling past your hip with a wind that ruffled your jumpsuit. It skidded, turned, and came back. You were already climbing the Concrete pillar. The tusks gouged a shallow white scratch into the grey surface where your feet had been a heartbeat before.

You stood on top, breathing, watching it pace below. It would give up in about a minute. You had a factory to build and a meat supply to restock. You pulled out your Pistol, not out of malice, but out of practicality, and waited for it to stop pacing. It did. You fired once. The Boar dropped. You climbed down, collected the Raw Meat, and went back to your pipes. The Grasslands settled back into their low, rustling hum, as if nothing had happened. As if you hadn't just been shoved into a dirt bank by a very angry pig.

Reader's Guide

**Bestiary Entry: Boar**

**Behavior Pattern:** The Boar is a territorial, reactive creature. Unlike the Deer, which bolts the moment it spots the player, the Boar will often close to a short distance before committing to a charge. It does not perform complex attack patterns—there is no pounce, no feint. It picks a vector, lowers its head, and runs. If it misses you, it will turn and try again, usually two or three times before losing interest and wandering off. This makes it predictable in a way that larger, more exotic creatures are not, and that predictability is exactly what makes it so effective as an early-game hazard.

**Threat Level:** Low-to-Medium. A single Boar hit will knock the player back and deal a noticeable chunk of health, but it is not an instant kill under normal circumstances. The real danger is the Boar catching you while you are in the middle of a build, mid-placement, or worse, mid-conveyor-reroute, and shoving you into a wall, a machine, or a drop. In open Grasslands it is manageable. In a tight cluster of early structures, it is genuinely annoying.

**Spawn Biome:** Grasslands. The Boar is most at home in the open, rolling meadows that dominate the early-game map. It is not typically found in the denser forest zones or the higher-altitude biomes.

**Fan Lore & Player Tips:** The community's standard advice is simple: don't build your first water setup in the middle of a Boar's grazing path. If you must, build a small wall or pillar to stand on. The Boar cannot climb. A single shot from a Pistol or even a well-aimed wrench swing is enough to put it down, and the Raw Meat it drops is a welcome addition to the campfire. Many players keep a small "Boar tax" budget in their early inventory—a few extra Raw Meat items set aside specifically for the inevitable encounter where the Boar shows up at the worst possible moment, right as you are trying to calibrate your first Smelter. It is not the scariest creature in Satisfactory, but it is the one that teaches you, in a very physical way, that the world here has a pulse, a temper, and a very specific opinion about your Foundation blocks.
