Where the Item Sorter handles solid goods, the Fluid Sorter takes multiple fluid inputs and routes each to a player-configured output port, letting you cleanly separate Crude Oil from Refined Oil from Lubricant without a spaghetti tangle of pipes.

It sits in the upper echelon of the build menu and represents the moment your operation has outgrown simple point-to-point transfers. Once you're running parallel refining chains, chemical production, and fuel generation simultaneously, the Fluid Sorter becomes the traffic controller that keeps your fluid infrastructure legible and expandable.

Lore & Background

In the industrial sprawl of the Satisfactory planet, the Construct looms overhead like a perpetual promise, and the factory below it grows in concentric rings of increasing complexity. Early on, a single pipe from a Pumpjack to a Refinery is all you need. But as the tiers climb and the FICSIT signal demands more—more Refined Oil, more Sulfuric Acid, more Plastic—the fluid network becomes a circulatory system of its own. The Fluid Sorter is the valve that keeps that system from clotting.

FICSIT, the entity whose signal drives the entire construction effort, seems to expect the factory to scale without limit. The Fluid Sorter embodies that expectation: it assumes you will have multiple fluid streams converging on a single point and need them fanned out again with precision. It is a small, unglamorous machine, yet it encodes a design philosophy—modularity, reconfigurability, the ability to reroute without tearing down. In Their Own Story

The night shift on Sector 7 was supposed to be quiet. Mara had already routed the Crude Oil from the northern Pumpjacks through the first Refinery, and the Refined Oil was trickling south toward the second stage. But the new Sulfuric Acid line from the Chemistry Plant was supposed to feed the Plastic production, and somehow, in the last reconfiguration, it had ended up sharing a junction with the Lubricant feed.

She stood in the amber glow of the workbench, the Construct pulsing faintly above the ridgeline, and watched the two fluids argue at the T-junction. A drop of Lubricant in the Acid line would poison the Plastic. A drop of Acid in the Lubricant line would clog the engines.

She pulled the Fluid Sorter from her inventory, slotted it into the gap, and mapped the ports: Acid to output two, Lubricant to output three. The pipes hissed as they connected. The flow separated, clean and silent, each stream finding its lane.

Mara exhaled. The factory hummed on. The Construct watched, indifferent and patient, as it always did.
